SulphCo Announces the Construction of its First 5,000 Barrel/Day SonocrackingTM Unit SPARKS (NV) July 19, 2005– SulphCo, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SLPH) announces it is completing construction of its first 5,000 barrel per day Sonocracking¢â commercial unit at its headquarters in Sparks, Nevada. Construction of the unit follows months of design and quality control testing of the internal components of the unit, including the ultrasonic probes, at the Sparks facility.
¡°The quality control testing has shown consistent results in terms of significant API degree Gravity increase as well as sulfur reduction,¡± said Dr. Rudolf Gunnerman, Chairman of SulphCo. ¡°We are confident in both the consistency of the results as well as the robustness of the equipment and internal components.¡±
As part of its quality control procedures, SulphCo has tested the results of the Sonocracking technology on several types of crude oil, including Arab Medium and two varieties of heavier crude oil from the United States and Mexico.
SulphCo plans to transfer designs of the new unit and its internal components to its supply partners in Germany and Taiwan in the next weeks. The 5,000 barrel/day unit is designed to be modular for easy scale-up and maintenance. Five 5,000 barrel/day modular units would make up a single 25,000 barrel/day unit, a production unit more in line with heavier industry demands.
¡°I am very pleased with the transfer of SulphCo¡¯s engineering and technical designs to our supply partners,¡± said Dr. Gunnerman. ¡°Much of the basic design work for the 5,000 barrel/day unit was already completed as part of the design package of our 2,000 barrel per day plant currently under construction for our Korean customer.¡± SulphCo estimates that the first 5,000 barrel per day unit will be operational at a customer site during the third quarter.
