SulphCo Announces Timely Installation of its 2000 bbl/day Sonocracking (TM) Plant in South Korea SPARKS, Nev., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SulphCo, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SLPH) announced today the timely installation of its Sonocracking plant at the OIL-SC, Ltd. customer facility near Seoul, South Korea.
The SUSS-2K Sonocracking plant, which has a maximum daily throughput of 2,000 barrels of petroleum products, was designed, constructed and installed according to the terms of the contract singed with OIL-SC, Ltd. in February, 2005. The plant installation was completed on schedule by a joint installation team made up of SulphCo and OIL-SC personnel along with SulphCo's manufacturing partner JH Group (Taiwan) and a German supplier responsible for the plant's control logic.
Initial SUSS-2K plant commissioning runs undertaken by SulphCo's commissioning team at the OIL-SC facility, showed a gravity degree API increase of 5 points on an Arab Medium crude oil. The crude oil used for testing was supplied by a Korean refining company and had a starting gravity degree API of over 30.
"While we are extremely encouraged by these initial runs, it is important to understand that more time will be needed to fully maximize the SUSS-2K plant potential in terms of gravity increase, sulfur and nitrogen reduction, viscosity reduction and distillation enhancement," said Peter Gunnerman, President and Chief Operating Officer of SulphCo Inc.
During the Facility Completion Ceremony held on September 24, 2005 at OIL-SC, Ltd. headquarters in Shiheung-Si, South Korea, OIL-SC President, Mr. Sang Ok Lee said, "We have been most pleased with SulphCo's ability to meet our schedule while employing the highest professional standards. The design and quality of the Sonocracking plant is most impressive."
The Facility Completion Ceremony was attended by more than 90 people including government officials, members of the media and business leaders. OIL-SC and SulphCo will use the SSUS-2K Sonocracking plant mainly for customer demonstrations to the South Korean refining companies as well as other potential customers in the region. "South Korea has Asia's third largest refining capacity behind China and Japan with by far the world's largest average refinery capacity per refinery," said Peter Gunnerman. "It is extremely important for our future sales objectives to have the ability to demonstrate the benefits of the Sonocracking technology both within the South Korean market as well as in the very active Asian petroleum sector in general."
